Anambra Commission Advocates for Learning Disabilities Inclusion

The Anambra Commission, chaired by Dr. Chukwuka Ezewuzi, has made a significant appeal for the inclusion of persons with learning disabilities during the commemoration of the International Week for Persons with Learning Disabilities.

Dr. Ezewuzi stressed the importance of collaboration among government institutions, families, and communities to remove barriers that hinder the participation of individuals with learning disabilities in society.

He explained that learning disabilities, which are neurological conditions, do not determine a person's intelligence or future potential. The commission urged educational institutions to adopt inclusive learning practices that accommodate diverse student needs and encouraged teachers to employ flexible teaching methods to promote active participation.

Dr. Ezewuzi also called on parents and caregivers to provide consistent emotional support and recognize each child's unique strengths.

He emphasized that early diagnosis and intervention are essential for improving learning outcomes and enhancing confidence. The commission reaffirmed its commitment to disability inclusion and called for collective action to build a society that values and empowers every individual.
