Anambra Electricity Commission Calls for Improved Services

The Anambra State Electricity Regulatory Commission (ASERC), under the leadership of Managing Director Prof. Frank Okafor, is demanding enhanced electricity services for consumers in Anambra State.

During a two-day town hall engagement held in Onitsha, Okafor discussed the need for better collaboration between electricity distribution companies and consumers to ensure quality service delivery. The forum addressed significant issues such as energy theft, vandalism, and the need to eradicate estimated billing.

Okafor highlighted the establishment of ASERC under the Anambra State Electricity Law 2025, which aims to oversee the development of the state's electricity market. He urged consumers to report complaints to the commission's customer complaint unit and emphasized the importance of adhering to regulatory standards.

Okechukwu Okafor from FirstPower Electricity Distribution Company condemned the high incidence of energy theft, which he noted contributes to poor power supply. He outlined plans to combat energy theft and improve service delivery, urging consumers to refrain from engaging in meter bypassing.
