Governor Soludo Calls for Environmental Responsibility in Anambra

At an interdenominational thanksgiving service at the Cathedral Church of St. Faith in Awka, Anambra Governor Charles Soludo emphasized the importance of environmental protection, urging citizens to take personal responsibility. This call to action was prompted by the recent death of Success Ezenwafor in a flooding incident.

In a statement from his Chief Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, Soludo noted that Anambra has spent tens of billions of naira on erosion control but faces significant challenges, describing the state as the gully erosion capital of Africa. He stressed that government efforts alone are insufficient without citizen involvement in managing water runoff, clearing drainage channels, and planting trees.

Reflecting on Nigeria's 66 years of independence, Soludo acknowledged progress but pointed out ongoing challenges, urging citizens to replace lamentation with proactive contributions to national development. Archbishop Alexander Ibezim, who delivered the sermon, echoed the need for accountability among leaders and the importance of citizens shaping their collective future.
