Anambra Government Enforces Environmental Law Amid Crisis

The Anambra State Government is taking decisive action to enforce its environmental laws after Governor Charles Soludo declared an environmental emergency. Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Clem Aguiyi, conducted an unscheduled inspection of the Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra (OCHA) Brigade in Awka, indicating the administration's commitment to addressing environmental challenges without delay.

Dr. Aguiyi described OCHA Brigade as “the environmental police in Anambra State” and urged its personnel to resume their duties to enhance the state's environmental conditions. He stressed that the enforcement of environmental law is crucial to Governor Soludo's environmental agenda and that implementation cannot be postponed.

Further collaborations between the Ministry of Environment and OCHA Brigade are anticipated as the Soludo administration aims to strengthen enforcement and initiate a renewed campaign for environmental compliance throughout Anambra State.
