Anambra Stakeholders Advocate for Improved Healthcare

Stakeholders in Anambra State gathered for a town hall meeting focused on enhancing maternal and child healthcare, organized by Justice Development and Peace Caritas (JDPC) Nnewi under the Strengthening Public Accountability for Results and Knowledge (SPARK 2) program. The meeting, supported by the Social and Integral Development Centre (SIDEC), Civil Rights Concern (CRC), Community Empowerment Network (COMEN), and the International Budget Partnership (IBP), aimed to address challenges facing Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs).

Rev. Fr. Benedict Okolo, Director of JDPC Nnewi, encouraged participants to share their experiences and propose solutions, assuring that unresolved issues would be escalated to relevant government bodies. Ugochi Ehiahuruike, Executive Director of SIDEC, noted the progress made in promoting accountability in the health sector but highlighted ongoing issues such as staffing shortages and the need for essential medicines.

Other contributors included Okey Onyeka, Ide Godwin, Dr. Chizoba Ezeasor, and Dr. Ngozi Okeke, who presented various perspectives on improving healthcare delivery in the region.
