Anambra Police Chief Orutugu Wins Public Service Award

Anambra Police Commissioner Orutugu has been recognized as the Public Service Man of the Year by the AMTI for his impactful contributions to public safety and police reform in Anambra State. His nomination follows a series of security reforms that have led to a notable reduction in police harassment of citizens and improvements in professional conduct among officers.

Since assuming office, Commissioner Orutugu has overseen operations that resulted in the arrest of 200 suspects, including kidnappers and armed robbers, and the rescue of 30 kidnapping victims. His command has dismantled several illegal facilities linked to child trafficking, rescuing 10 malnourished children and arresting suspects, including an alleged fake medical practitioner.

The police have also recovered firearms and stolen vehicles during targeted operations. Orutugu's community-focused approach emphasizes trust-building and non-violent conflict resolution, contributing to a safer environment and earning multiple recognitions, including the AMTI award.
