Anambra Police Commissioner Acts on Viral Extortion Video

The Anambra State Police Commissioner, Tochukwu Ikenga, has committed to arresting and prosecuting officers found guilty of professional misconduct following a viral video that depicted police officers engaging in extortion of motorists at a roadblock in Onitsha. The complaint regarding this incident was received by the police command, prompting Ikenga to direct the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Okpoko to take immediate action in identifying the officers involved.

The Commissioner emphasized the seriousness of the allegations, which include officers allegedly collecting money from victims. Ikenga stated that the command will not shield any officer found culpable and that appropriate disciplinary measures will be taken in accordance with established procedures.

He reiterated the commitment of the Anambra State Police Command to uphold professionalism and protect the rights of citizens.
