Anambra Police Arrest Five in Motorcycle Theft Gang

The Anambra State Police Command successfully apprehended a five-member criminal gang involved in motorcycle theft during an operation on Tuesday. The gang, which included a female suspect, targeted commercial motorcycle riders, known locally as "okada" riders, by luring them to secluded locations before robbing them of their motorcycles and valuables.

The police recovered a locally made Beretta pistol, three Qlink motorcycles, and a 150 Tiger model motorcycle believed to be stolen. The arrested suspects are Sundai Chukwudebel (22), Adaobi Udez (26), Chimezi Ifebi (35), Kelvin Chukwuejik (28), and Uzi Chukwuejik (William Umeh, 26).

Police spokesman Tochukwu Ikenga commended the rapid response of the officers involved and reiterated the command's commitment to ensuring the safety of residents across the state. He urged commercial motorcyclists to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
