Youths Block Akure-Owo Expressway Over Insecurity Protests

On Tuesday, youths from Ilu Abo in Akure North Local Government Area, Ondo State, protested by blocking the Akure-Owo Expressway in response to a recent killing attributed to suspected bandits. The deceased, whose identity has not been disclosed, was reportedly killed on Monday night.

The protest, which included carrying placards with messages such as "Save our souls" and "Mr. Governor, please assist us," aimed to draw attention to the escalating insecurity in the area, which has made farming and peaceful living increasingly difficult.

The protesters insisted on halting vehicular movement until the state government, led by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, addresses their concerns. In response, the Ondo State Police Command, represented by DSP Abayomi Jimoh, deployed a tactical team to the area to restore security and conduct operations against criminal activities.

This protest follows a previous incident where Mr. Joseph Aladesuyi was abducted alongside a victim named Esther.
