Taraba State Launches N500m Youth Start-Up Fund

On Friday, during a statewide broadcast in Jalingo, Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefa announced the approval of a N500 million youth start-up fund aimed at addressing unemployment and promoting economic growth in the state. This initiative is part of a broader reform targeting youth inclusion and infrastructural development.

The empowerment program is scheduled to commence in June 2026, with 296 youths successfully registered to receive starter packs. Kefa emphasized the importance of empowering young people for the future of Taraba State.

Additionally, the administration has established a youth development agency and a sports commission as separate entities to focus on youth and sports development. Kefa also mentioned ongoing infrastructure projects, including several road developments across Taraba, and declared education as an emergency sector, aiming to expand access to free compulsory basic education and improve learning environments.
