65 Nigerians Set to Return from South Africa on August 26

The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced the return of 65 Nigerians from South Africa on Wednesday, August 26, 2026. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs shared this information via its official X handle, stating that the returnees would be assisted through the sponsorship of private individuals.

They are scheduled to depart from Oliver Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg at 3:30 PM local time aboard a South African Airways flight, with an expected arrival at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos at 8:45 PM the same day. This repatriation effort is part of ongoing initiatives to facilitate the return of Nigerians amid concerns over reported anti-foreigner attacks and discrimination against migrants in South Africa.

The latest group follows the return of 83 Nigerians the previous week, also sponsored by private individuals. The Federal Government continues to monitor the situation and engage with relevant authorities to support Nigerians wishing to return home.
