Senator Akobundu Resigns from PDP Amid Internal Crisis

Senator Austin Akobundu, representing the Abia Central Senatorial District, has officially resigned from the People's Democratic Party (PDP). In a letter addressed to the PDP ward chairman in Oloko, Akobundu cited ongoing internal crises within the party as the reason for his departure, which takes immediate effect.

He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve on the PDP platform, describing his time with the party as mutually beneficial. Akobundu's resignation follows a trend of internal challenges within the PDP that have made continued membership difficult.

His departure is part of a larger pattern, as three other senators, including Ikra Bilbi from Zamfara Central, Aminu Iya Abba from Adamawa Central, and Amo Yohanna from Adamawa North, also announced their defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) during a Senate plenary session presided over by Godswill Akpabio. This wave of resignations highlights significant leadership issues affecting the PDP.
