Senator Mustapha Resigns from PDP Amid Internal Crises

Senator Mustapha, representing Kaduna North, has officially resigned from the People's Democratic Party (PDP), citing unresolved internal crises and persistent leadership tussles as the primary reasons for his departure. His resignation letter, addressed to the PDP ward chairman of Soba Ward in Soba Local Government Area, is dated March 27, 2026.

In the letter, Mustapha expressed gratitude to party members for their support throughout his political journey but noted that the ongoing conflicts within the party have eroded unity and made continued participation difficult. He emphasized that the current structure of the PDP does not reflect the ideals that initially attracted him to the party.

Reports suggest that Mustapha may prepare to join the African Democratic Congress, although this has not been officially confirmed. His resignation follows a trend of defections from the PDP, including recent exits by Senators Ikra Bilbi, Aminu Iya Abba, and Amo Yohanna, who cited similar internal issues.
