LASTMA Arrests Truck Driver After Fatal Hit-and-Run

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) arrested a truck driver after a tragic hit-and-run incident that resulted in the deaths of two individuals, a pedestrian and a motorcyclist, along the Badagry Expressway. The incident occurred when a fully loaded truck, reportedly speeding towards Badagry, struck a pedestrian and failed to stop.

The driver allegedly continued to flee the scene, prompting a motorcyclist, who was a bystander, to pursue the truck. During the chase, the truck driver rammed into the motorcyclist, leading to the immediate death of the rider, while the second passenger escaped unharmed.

LASTMA's patrol team, deployed for traffic monitoring, quickly arrived at the scene to evacuate the deceased motorcyclist, whose body was trapped beneath the truck. The driver was arrested by LASTMA officials with the assistance of security personnel and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), who confirmed the deaths and initiated further investigations for legal action.
