Bauchi Lawmaker Itas Withdraws from 2027 Election Race

Yusuf Abdullahi Itas, who represents the Itas/Gadau State Constituency in the Bauchi State House of Assembly, has officially withdrawn from the 2027 election race. This announcement was made in a letter addressed to the APM state chairman, dated October 5, 2026, titled “Withdrawal of Candidature for the Itas/Gadau State Constituency Seat in the Bauchi State House of Assembly.” Itas described his decision as “entirely voluntary and personal,” expressing gratitude to the APM leadership and the constituents for their support during his tenure.

Itas holds the position of Chairman of the House Committee on Petitions and is also the Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs. His withdrawal follows that of Musa Wakili Nakwada, the Chief Whip of the Bauchi Assembly, who also withdrew from the APM ticket for the 2027 Assembly race in September, without indicating plans to join another party.
