ADC Critiques Tinubu's Ambassadorial Appointments

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has publicly criticized President Bola Tinubu's recent ambassadorial postings, describing the move as a diplomatic blunder and indicative of the administration's incompetence. In a press statement issued on a Saturday, ADC's national public secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, emphasized that the appointments contradict established diplomatic protocols outlined in the Vienna Convention.

He pointed out that the government must obtain consent from host countries before announcing ambassadorial appointments, a requirement that was reportedly overlooked. Abdullahi raised concerns about the number of ambassadors announced, noting that Nigeria maintains 109 diplomatic missions worldwide, yet 65 ambassadors have been appointed, leaving 44 missions without envoys.

He questioned the government's delay in seeking consent from host countries for three months after nominating ambassadors and warned that this situation could weaken Nigeria's global diplomatic presence. The ADC's statement reflects broader concerns about the administration's effectiveness in managing Nigeria's international relations.
