Anti-quackery Committee Seals 6 Health Facilities In Rivers

Health1 min read

The Anti-quackery Committee in Rivers State has sealed six illegal health facilities across the state. Led by Vincent Wachukwu and Diamond Tamunokuro, the committee's operation resulted in the arrest of two individuals.

This action comes just three months after the Rivers State Ministry of Health sealed another health facility in Port Harcourt. One of the facilities, Bristol Clinic Maternity in Rumuodomaya, was shut down after investigators found that it was operating in an apartment converted into a hospital.

Kingsley Ugwu, who posed as a doctor and performed maternity and surgical services despite being unqualified, was arrested for quackery and impersonation. The committee also closed Adoration Hospital Maternity in Omagwa, which had been operating in a shop converted into a hospital with unqualified staff.

The young doctor and proprietor of the facility have been summoned before the Rivers State Ministry of Health disciplinary panel and the Nigeria Medical Association.
