Anyanwu Appeals Court Ruling on PDP Expulsion

Anyanwu has filed an appeal against a ruling by the Federal Capital Territory High Court that upheld his expulsion from the People's Democratic Party (PDP). The appeal was lodged on April 10, 2023, following the court's decision, delivered by Justice Yusuf Halilu, which dismissed Anyanwu's suit challenging the disciplinary actions taken against him by the PDP.

The court found that the PDP's disciplinary committee had provided Anyanwu with an opportunity to defend himself but he failed to prove any fundamental defects in the process. The committee, led by Tom Ikimi, had recommended Anyanwu's expulsion due to alleged anti-party activities.

The PDP had previously announced Anyanwu's expulsion alongside other notable members, including Nyesom Wike and Ayo Fayose, during a national convention in Ibadan. Anyanwu's appeal challenges nine aspects of the lower court's decision, arguing that the trial judge erred in ruling that he failed to exhaust internal party remedies, rendering his suit premature.
