Apapa-Iganmu LCDA Launches Waste-to-Wealth Initiative

The Apapa-Iganmu Local Council Development Area (LCDA) is actively seeking support for its waste-to-wealth initiative, which aims to create jobs, improve sanitation, and expand economic opportunities for residents. Chairman Jimoh Saliu called on the Lagos State government and the private sector to back this program during a stakeholders' meeting.

The initiative focuses on transforming waste management structures and establishing collection centers to tackle environmental challenges while creating new income sources for residents. Saliu reassured stakeholders of the council's commitment to providing necessary land and ensuring effective community engagement.

Dr. Adebola Odunsi, a special advisor to the governor on climate change, emphasized the importance of reliable data on waste recycling volumes for the initiative's success.

Representatives from Nigerian Breweries PLC and 7UP Bottling Company pledged support for the program, highlighting the need for skill development and vocational training to empower the community and improve waste management practices.
