APC Aspirant Survives Assassination Attempt in Kogi

On Tuesday, during a stakeholders' meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at Halim Hotel in Lokoja, Kogi State, Sumaila Muhammed Attah, an aspirant for the Ankpa II Assembly seat, narrowly escaped an assassination attempt. The incident occurred as the party members were reaching a consensus on candidates for the forthcoming assembly elections.

Attah was reportedly shot at close range by unidentified gunmen, leading to a critical intervention by a police officer assigned to the venue, who noticed suspicious movements. This intervention caused panic among attendees, prompting them to flee for safety.

Following the incident, three suspects were arrested at the scene, identified as Bobbi Achiev, Obobo, and Anyigba Ododo Moham, and were taken into police custody in Lokoja for interrogation. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, but sources suggest it may be linked to rising political tensions within the APC regarding candidate selection for the Ankpa II Assembly seat.
