APC Chieftain Urges President Tinubu to Enforce Drug Price Executive Order

APC chieftain Olatunbosun Oyintiloye urges President Bola Tinubu to fully enforce the executive order on drug prices in Nigeria. Despite the order issued in June 2024 to reduce the prices of essential medical consumables, many drugs are still priced high, causing financial burdens on patients.

Oyintiloye highlighted that critical drugs like insulin, Metformin, and Exforge remain expensive. He emphasized the need for the full implementation of the order to reduce production costs and enhance local manufacturing competitiveness.

The Nigeria Customs Service started implementing the order in March 2025, but drug prices continue to rise. Oyintiloye called on President Tinubu to ensure the order's complete enforcement to make medicines more affordable for Nigerians.
