Contractors Threaten APC Convention Disruption Over Debt

The Indigenous Contractors Association of Nigeria (AICAN), represented by Jackson Nwosu, has warned that the All Progressives Congress (APC) convention, scheduled for March 27-28, 2026, in Abuja, will not proceed peacefully due to an outstanding debt of N150 billion owed to contractors. AICAN has accused the federal government of neglecting its financial obligations, despite previous agreements.

They have received only N21 billion of the total N1 trillion owed since December 2025, leading to severe hardship among members. The association demands immediate payment of the N150 billion within two days, threatening to stage protests at the convention venue if their demands are not met.

Babatunde Seun, another AICAN member, expressed frustration over the repeated delays and broken promises from the government, linking the issue to the implementation of the 2024 budget. The contractors insist on direct settlement of their debts to prevent further suffering.
