Ondo APC Elders Reject Governor's Reconciliation Committee

The crisis within the Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) intensified as a faction of party elders, known as the PBAT Elders Mandate Forum, rejected Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa's reconciliation committee on Wednesday. They criticized the initiative as lacking credibility and accused Aiyedatiwa of insufficient commitment to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's re-election campaign.

Chief Demola Ijabiyi, chairman of the forum, stated they were unaware of any reconciliation committee and claimed the governor's peace efforts failed to address the underlying grievances within the party. Ijabiyi expressed concerns that Aiyedatiwa prioritized personal political interests over the collective goal of securing victory for the APC in the 2027 elections.

He highlighted the governor's ineffective mobilization strategies and dissatisfaction with the emergence of National Assembly candidates not aligned with his preferences. The forum also noted the governor's public engagement and leadership in the upcoming elections were inadequate, further deepening divisions within the party.
