APC Defends Candidate Substitution After Primaries

The All Progressives Congress (APC) defended its decision to substitute candidates after the primaries, asserting that there were no violations of electoral laws. Felix Morka, the APC spokesman, stated that no aspirants who failed to participate in the primaries were declared winners.

He addressed allegations that the party arbitrarily replaced candidates with individuals who did not participate in the primaries. Morka noted that the party received 720 petitions from aggrieved aspirants, which were reviewed by an appeal committee.

He emphasized that the primary election process extends beyond voting and includes dispute resolution, which is integral to the process. Morka denied claims that the APC awarded tickets to individuals who neither purchased nomination forms nor participated in the primaries.

He acknowledged the dissatisfaction among aspirants regarding the outcomes and reassured that the review process was transparent and not driven by personal interests. Morka expressed confidence in the party's ability to conduct the upcoming general elections successfully.
