APC Disqualifies Fubara Loyalists Ahead of 2027 Primaries

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has disqualified 32 aspirants reportedly loyal to Governor Siminalayi Fubara while clearing lawmakers backed by former Governor Nyesom Wike for participation in the 2027 primaries. A list released by the party indicated that 33 aspirants were cleared, while 65 others failed to meet the screening criteria.

The disqualified aspirants faced various issues, including alleged nomination irregularities, failure to present valid voter cards, absence of party membership slips, conflicts in date of birth, and inconsistencies in submitted documents. Additionally, some faced disqualification due to invalid affidavits and insufficient nominations from ward committees.

The screening committee's statement was issued from the party's state secretariat located along Aba Road in Port Harcourt. An appeal process is scheduled for Tuesday, May 12, to address the outcomes of the screening.
