APC Clears Governors for 2027 Elections Amid Challenges

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reportedly cleared Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma and Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, along with other governors, for the party's primaries in preparation for the 2027 general elections. Sources confirmed this development amid a backdrop of petitions against various aspirants.

The APC plans to publish the names of cleared aspirants on May 13, coinciding with preparations for a meeting with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The party is screening approximately 2,980 aspirants for various positions, including 28 governorship slots, 109 Senate seats, and 360 House of Representatives seats.

However, Adebayo Adelabu, a former Minister of Power, is facing challenges during the clearance process for the Oyo State governorship ticket. The APC leadership is working to achieve a consensus to avoid post-primary litigation, although this effort has faced difficulties, particularly regarding the Ogun East senatorial ticket involving Governor Dapo Abiodun and Gbenga Daniel.
