APC Disqualifies Two Rivers Lawmakers Ahead of Primaries

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has disqualified two Rivers State lawmakers, Awaji Inombek and Abiant Boma Goodhead, from contesting in the party's primaries scheduled for May 16, 2026. This decision was confirmed in a statement by Chibik Ikenga, the state APC public secretary, issued in Port Harcourt.

The final list of aspirants for the House of Representatives primaries includes 21 candidates, among them Martin Amaewhul, the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, who is vying for the Obio Akpor Federal Constituency to replace his kinsman, Kingsley Chinda. The statement emphasized that the aspirants should comply with the party's regulations, and it was noted that the disqualified lawmakers are loyalists of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

The announcement was made alongside the release of the aspirants' list, which is crucial for the upcoming electoral process.
