Legal Setback for APC Faction in Rivers State Council Election Challenge

In a legal battle in Rivers State, a faction of the APC led by Emeka Beke lost its bid to challenge the nomination of council election candidates by the RSIEC. The court in Port Harcourt dismissed the suit filed by Fubara Dagogo and others aligned with Beke's faction, seeking to compel the electoral commission to recognize their list of candidates.

The court ruled that the case did not qualify as a pre-election matter under the constitution and was time-barred. The faction led by Chief Toni Okocha, whose nominees currently occupy local councils, emerged victorious.

Jame Allen Umeni, counsel for the claimants, expressed disappointment and mentioned reviewing the decision for the next legal steps.
