APC Governors Warn Against Wike's Rainbow Coalition Impact

Powerful blocs within the All Progressives Congress (APC) are raising alarms regarding the National Rainbow Coalition associated with Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory. They warn that this coalition could negatively impact the party's candidates and President Bola Tinubu's re-election efforts in the 2027 general elections.

Wike, a significant figure in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), asserts that the coalition supports Tinubu's re-election, countering criticism from APC members, particularly Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who are reportedly leading opposition against him. Wike claims that rather than opposing him, these governors should recognize his role in accommodating disgruntled APC members.

Concerns have intensified in states like Rivers, Kwara, Gombe, and Cross River, with fears that the coalition's candidates, running under the PDP for National Assembly seats, could confuse voters and split votes on election day, ultimately affecting Tinubu's performance.
