Obasanjo's Daughter Chooses APC Over PDP and ADC for Political Comeback in Ogun State

Iyabo Obasanjo, a former senator representing Ogun Central Senatorial District, has officially returned to partisan politics by joining the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nigeria. She explained her decision to choose APC over the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 general elections in Ogun State.

Iyabo cited internal problems and instability within the PDP as reasons for not returning to the party. She confirmed discussions with the ADC but noted that the party was not fully prepared politically.

After careful consideration and consultations, she decided that the APC was her "natural home" where she felt comfortable and confident. Iyabo had previously faced a setback in her political career in 2011 when she lost her re-election bid to the Senate.

She has now registered as a full member of the APC in Ogun State, aiming to strengthen the party's political structure in preparation for the upcoming elections.
