APC Loses Lawmaker Muhammad Garba Isimbabi to SDP

Hon. Muhammad Garba Isimbabi, a member of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly representing the Toto/Gadabuke constituency, has defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

His defection was announced by the Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Dr. Danladi Jatau, during a plenary session in Lafia on a Monday.

In his resignation letter, Isimbabi reflected on his political journey, noting that he was initially issued a certificate of return under the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and was sworn in as a member of the 7th Assembly on that platform. Following a crisis within the NNPP, he joined the APC after encouragement from stakeholders in his constituency.

However, he stated that the factors prompting his return to the APC are now "all in the past," leading to his decision to join the SDP, effective June 2026. Despite this change, Isimbabi reaffirmed his commitment to the development of Nasarawa State and the welfare of his constituency.
