Gunmen Disrupt APC Primary Election in Ondo

On a Monday, gunmen took over the APC primary election at the African Church Primary School in Akur, Ondo Central Senatorial District, leading to chaos and panic. Sporadic gunfire forced party members, journalists, and residents to flee for safety.

Incumbent Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire described the electoral process as a charade, alleging that armed youths intimidated voters and disrupted the counting of votes. He claimed that these youths were instructed not to allow people to vote for certain candidates.

Olumuyiwa Adu, a retired military officer, condemned the violence and called for restraint, stating that no political ambition is worth bloodshed. Despite the turmoil, Taiwo Fasoranti dismissed the allegations, asserting that the election was free, fair, and transparent.

The incident raised concerns about the future of the APC in Ondo, highlighting internal divisions and the need for urgent intervention from national leadership.
