Thugs Disrupt APC Primary Results Announcement in Ondo

On Sunday, during the announcement of results for the APC primary elections in Ondo State, thugs allegedly stormed the party secretariat in Akure, disrupting the proceedings. The primary elections had been held across 203 wards in nine federal constituencies on Saturday.

Three results were announced before the disruption, with Mr. Omowunmi Olatunji winning the Akure South/Akure North federal constituency with 9,237 votes, and Dr.

Olumuyiwa Daramola emerging as the winner for the Okitipupa/Irele federal constituency with 6,547 votes. Incumbent lawmaker Dr.

Abiola Makinde secured victory in the Ondo East/Ondo West federal constituency with 10,847 votes. The announcement was interrupted around 7 PM when thugs invaded the venue, causing chaos and forcing officials and journalists to flee for safety.

Eyewitnesses reported that the situation became rowdy despite the presence of security personnel. The committee chairman later stated that they could not continue with the announcement due to the disruption.

Mr. Alex Kalejaiy, the Ondo State APC secretary, denied claims that party officials abandoned the venue, asserting that normalcy would return and results would be announced by 10 PM, although they remained unannounced at the time of reporting.
