Gunmen Disrupt APC Senate Primary in Ondo State

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Senate primary in Ondo State was disrupted by gunmen, who shot at a senator's vehicle, forcing party officials to flee for safety. This incident heightened tensions within the party, which is already facing internal strife ahead of the 2027 general elections.

A group within the Ondo State APC accused the party's national leadership of allowing power interests to hijack the primary process, alleging that results were manipulated through violence. They called for urgent intervention to restore credibility to the electoral exercise.

Despite the primary being conducted across nine federal constituencies, results were contested, with claims that the declared winners were not the actual victors. Governor Lucki Aiyedatiwa was accused of failing to ensure a transparent process.

The situation escalated further when political thugs allegedly invaded the venue, disrupting the electoral process. The APC's national leadership has been urged to reject the disputed process and investigate the alleged political interference.
