Abia Government Accuses Opposition of Violent Protest Plans

The Abia State Government, led by Governor Alex Otti, has accused opposition politicians of orchestrating plans to incite violent protests in the state, allegedly involving miscreants from neighboring states. This accusation was made public by Ferdinand Ekeoma, a special adviser to the governor, who warned that such actions could lead to a breakdown of law and order, undermining the state's governance ahead of the 2027 elections.

Ekeoma emphasized that the government would ensure that those involved would face severe consequences. In response, the Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), represented by its public secretary Uch Aguoru, stated that they were unaware of any plans for protests and condemned any actions that could threaten public security.

Aguoru suggested that the government itself might be fabricating crises to deflect attention from its governance issues and to distract the public from legitimate scrutiny.
