APC Gains Control of Ogun Assembly as 6 Lawmakers Defect

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken full control of the Ogun State Assembly following the defection of six lawmakers from the People's Democratic Party (PDP). This shift reduces the PDP's representation from nine to three members.

The defections occurred after a court ruling nullified the election of Babajide Owoduni, a PDP representative from Ikenne State Constituency, and declared Kunle Sobukola of the APC as the winner of the March 18 state assembly elections. The defectors include Lukman Adeley, Bello Oluwadamilare, Samusideen Lawal, Oluseun Samuel, Waliu Ifedolapo, and Dickson Kolawole.

Adeley confirmed the move, citing ongoing crises within the PDP and the desire to align with a ruling party ahead of the next elections. The formal announcement of the defections is expected to occur during a plenary session in the coming week.

Ogun State PDP Chairman Abayomi Tella has yet to respond to these developments.
