Ogun PDP Lawmakers' Defection Criticized as Betrayal

Six members of the Ogun State House of Assembly have defected from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), a move that has been criticized by PDP chieftain Sundai Solarin. The defectors include Lukman Adeley representing Odogbolu, Bello Damilar from Sagamu, Lawal Samsideen of Ogun Waterside, Oluseun Samuel from Ijebu North East, Owod Waliu of Ijebu East, and Dickson Kolawole representing Remo North.

Solarin condemned the lawmakers' decision during a plenary session held last week, stating that their actions represent a betrayal of the party, especially at a time when unity is crucial. He emphasized that while the lawmakers cited leadership differences as their reason for leaving, they should resign their seats since they were elected on the PDP platform.

Solarin expressed disappointment that the lawmakers wish to retain their positions and privileges while abandoning the party that elected them.
