APC Allegedly Behind Attack on Oyegun's Residence in Edo

On Tuesday, tensions rose in Benin City when the residence of John Odigie Oyegun, the leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), and the ADC secretariat were invaded by suspected hoodlums. This incident occurred shortly after a political meeting attended by notable figures, including former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi and ADC national leader John Odigie Oyegun.

The attack resulted in three injuries and significant damage to vehicles parked outside the premises. Edo ADC Chairman Kennedi Odion accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of being behind the violence, claiming that security agencies had warned of an impending attack.

The APC, through its chairman Jarret Tenebe, dismissed these accusations, attributing the violence to internal disputes within the ADC. The police confirmed the disruption and deployed patrol teams to the area, while the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, denied any involvement in the attack, emphasizing that the political visit was solely based on security concerns.
