APC weaponising anti-corruption to fight political battles – ADC

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of weaponizing anti-corruption efforts to fight political battles ahead of the 2023 general election. The ADC claims that the APC is using the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as a political tool to intimidate and discredit opposition leaders.

This accusation comes in response to the detention of former Sokoto Governor Aminu Tambuwal and the sudden probe of Governor Emeka Ihedioha by the EFCC. The ADC's National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, stated that the EFCC's actions are no longer about fighting corruption but targeting the opposition.

The ADC warned that this trend poses a threat to democracy and called on Nigerians to push back against political persecution by the EFCC.
