EFCC Summons Key ADC Coalition Leaders as 2027 Politics Heats Up

The Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has summoned key leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition, raising concerns within the opposition bloc gearing up to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election. The detention of former Sokoto State governor Aminu Tambuwal, a prominent figure in the coalition, has drawn attention after he was questioned over alleged fraudulent cash withdrawals totaling billions.

The EFCC sources revealed that Tambuwal's actions violated the Money Laundering Prevention Prohibition Act of 2022. ADC National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi confirmed that three former governors, including Tambuwal, were invited by the agency, suggesting a politically motivated move.

Despite this, coalition members remain determined to continue their campaign for change, viewing the EFCC's actions as an attempt to weaken the opposition. Meanwhile, some politicians have distanced themselves from the coalition, reaffirming their allegiance to the ruling party.
