APC Secures All Chairmanship Seats in Yobe Elections

The All Progressives Congress (APC) achieved a significant victory by winning all 17 chairmanship seats in the local government area elections held in Yobe State. The results were announced by Dr Ibrahim Mohammed Yabani, chairman of the Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission (YSIEC), on Sunday following the elections conducted on Saturday.

Yabani characterized the election as “hitch-free,” noting the successful execution across all 178 electoral wards and 17 local government areas. A total of 10 political parties participated, indicating a competitive environment.

The results revealed that Musa Kalan Dagona of the APC received 54,312 votes in Bade LGA, while other notable victories included Bukar Adamu in Damaturu LGA with 18,465 votes and Abdulmumini Usaini in Fika LGA with 61,326 votes. Despite the APC's sweep of chairmanship positions, two opposition parties, the African Peoples Party and the Action Democratic Party, secured councillorship seats in Fune and Karasuwa LGAs, respectively.

YSIEC confirmed that it would proceed with the necessary post-election processes.
