APC Secures All Local Government Seats in Enugu Elections

The All Progressives Congress (APC) achieved a clean sweep in the Enugu council elections, winning all 17 local government chairmanship seats on September 26, 2026. The results were officially announced by the Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC) on September 27, 2026, at their headquarters in Enugu.

ENSIEC chairman, Prof. Christian Ngwu, confirmed that all winning candidates were from the APC. The elected chairmen include Ugochukwu Nwanjoku in Aninri, Okolo Uchenna Joseph in Awgu, Beloved Dan Anike in Enugu East, Onoh Ibenaku in Enugu North, and Caleb Ani in Enugu South, among others.

Prof. Ngwu commended the residents for their participation, which he stated contributed to the elections' legitimacy, and acknowledged the roles of security agencies, civil society organizations, and the media in ensuring a smooth electoral process. He congratulated the winners and urged them to view their victories as a mandate to serve.

Following the announcement, ENSIEC concluded the chairmanship segment of the elections and issued certificates of return to the newly elected chairmen.
