APGA Primaries in Anambra Marred by Vote Buying Allegations

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) National Assembly primaries held in Anambra faced significant issues with vote buying, as monetary incentives were reportedly distributed to voters across various wards. The primaries took place over the weekend in 327 political wards throughout the state.

Allegations included the distribution of cash ranging from N5,000 to N10,000 and other services to influence votes. Barr Sly Ezeokenwa, the national chairman of APGA, noted the trend of vote buying, which he deemed detrimental.

In the Anambra North senatorial zone, Stella Odua, a former Minister of Aviation, emerged victorious with 15,968 votes, defeating Dr. Alex Obiogbolu, who received 4,537 votes.

Chief Dozi Nwankwo won the Anambra Central zone, while in Anambra South, incumbent Senator Emma Nwachukwu garnered 27,389 votes. The APGA leadership indicated that certain results could be nullified due to the lack of video evidence of the voting process.
