APM Claims Sweep in Bauchi Local Government Elections

The Allied Peoples Movement secured victory across Monday's Bauchi State local government elections by winning every one of the 20 chairmanship positions on offer. After voting concluded and officials finished counting, collating and verifying results, Hajiya Jummai Abubakar—heading the Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission—released the findings that same evening.

The commission's tallies indicated that 319 out of 323 councillorship seats went to APM candidates across the state. Governor Bala Mohammed seized upon the election results to condemn opposition factions that chose not to participate in the contest.

He characterized those who boycotted as fearful, claiming they avoided the race due to anxiety about suffering electoral defeat. According to the governor, opposing parties should instead have entered the fray to measure their backing among residents, rather than opting out of the democratic process.

The governor made these remarks following his own vote at a polling station located in Alkaleri Local Government Area. According to BASIEC's leader, all successful candidates had satisfied pertinent legal criteria and received the highest count of valid votes within their respective areas.

The voting activities proceeded without major reported disruptions, with all stages of voting, tabulation, and verification completed on the same day as the election. APM's commanding performance in the local government contests underscores its substantial control over grassroots governance bodies throughout Bauchi State.

With every chairmanship post secured and the overwhelming majority of councillorship positions held, the party now dominates representation across all 20 local government areas in the state.
