APM Wins All Seats in Bauchi LG Elections Amid Boycott

On Monday, local government elections were held in Bauchi State, where Governor Bala Mohammed criticized opposition political parties that boycotted the elections, calling them cowards for fearing defeat. The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) achieved a significant victory, winning all 20 contested chairmanship seats and 319 out of 323 councillorship seats, as declared by Jummai Abubakar, Chairperson of the Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC).

After casting his vote in Dan Kungibar, Bakin Dutse District, Alkaleri Local Government Area, Governor Mohammed stated that the opposition should have participated to gauge their popularity. He emphasized the importance of local governments in state development and expressed confidence that the elections would produce capable leaders.

Mohammed also noted the peaceful conduct of the elections and reiterated the state government's commitment to democratic governance, highlighting that the elections were crucial for strengthening democracy at the grassroots level.
