APM Terminals Apapa Sees 6% Growth in H1 2026 Exports
APM Terminals Apapa, Nigeria’s largest container terminal, reported a 6% growth in export volumes for the first half of 2026. Terminal Managing Director Kamal Alhraishat credited this growth to the resilience of Nigerian exporters and various operational enhancements aimed at facilitating export trade.
Over the past five years, exports through the terminal have consistently increased. Key initiatives include dedicated export lanes to expedite cargo access and a rail connection between Lagos and Moniya (Ibadan) that operates three times weekly, providing an efficient alternative to road transport.
This rail connectivity helps reduce reliance on trucks and mitigates traffic congestion. The terminal also utilizes the Ebute Metta rail corridor for cargo movement.
Alhraishat emphasized the importance of collaboration among stakeholders through the Exporters Forum, now in its third year, which aims to address challenges in the export value chain. The terminal's major export commodities include soybeans, cashew nuts, cocoa, hibiscus flowers, and solid minerals.
The next Exporters Forum session is scheduled for September 2.
