Appeal Court Upholds PDP Primary Election in Ekiti

The Appeal Court sitting in Ondo State upheld the governorship primary election results of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, which took place on November 8-9, 2025. The court affirmed Dr.

Oluwole Oluyede's position as the winner of the primary election, ahead of the governorship election scheduled for June 20, 2026. This ruling nullified an earlier decision by the Federal High Court in Ado Ekiti, which had invalidated the primary results and called for a fresh primary election.

The unanimous decision was delivered by a three-man panel led by Justice Peter Chudi Obiorah, alongside Justices Jane Esienanwan Inyang and Peter O. Affen.

The court found that the primary election was conducted under the supervision of former Governor Dankwambo of Gombe State and was valid, transparent, and compliant with the party's constitution and the Electoral Act.
