PDP Celebrates Court Ruling for Oluyede's Candidacy

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed satisfaction with a Federal High Court ruling in Abuja that requires the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognize Dr. Oluwol Oluyede as its governorship candidate for the Ekiti State elections.

The court's decision, delivered by Justice Umar, mandates that INEC include Oluyede's name and the party's logo on the ballot for the upcoming elections scheduled for July 20, 2026. This ruling comes after INEC had previously rejected Oluyede's candidacy due to alleged non-compliance with the Electoral Act.

The court also issued a perpetual injunction preventing INEC from further excluding Oluyede from electoral activities. PDP's national chairman, Kabiru Turaki, emphasized the ruling as a victory for democracy and urged INEC to adhere to legal frameworks without bias.

This judgment follows a history of disputes regarding PDP's leadership and candidate recognition, highlighting ongoing internal crises within the party.
