APPON Advocates for Tech-Driven Procurement in Nigeria

The Lagos State Chapter of the Association of Public Procurement Practitioners in Nigeria (APPON) has called for stronger, transparent, and technology-driven procurement systems to achieve sustainable economic growth. This statement was made during the 3rd edition of a capacity-building workshop themed "Strengthening Procurement Systems for Sustainable Development." Adebowale Adedokun, Director General of the Bureau of Public Procurement, emphasized the necessity of clear rules and a digital process to build a sustainable procurement system.

He highlighted the importance of balancing cost and quality for long-term impacts. Fatai Onafowot, Director General of the Lagos State Public Procurement Agency, described procurement strategies as crucial drivers of national development.

Adeola Oduntan from MTN Nigeria noted that digitized procurement enhances efficiency and trust, reducing procurement cycle times and improving outcomes. The workshop underscored the need for continuous capacity building and adherence to ethical standards in procurement practices.
