Apprentice Arrested for Kidnapping and Murder in Kwara

Soliu Mujeeb, a 21-year-old apprentice, was arrested by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in connection with the kidnapping and murder of 60-year-old electrician Mr. Olarewaju Afolabi in Kwara State.

The victim was reported missing on June 7, 2026, after failing to return home from an electrical installation project. Concerned family members reported his disappearance, and soon after, they began receiving ransom demands totaling 2 million Naira.

The family managed to pay 120,000 Naira based on instructions from the caller. Following an investigation that included digital tracking and financial analysis, NSCDC operatives arrested Mujeeb, who confessed to the crime.

He admitted to luring Afolabi to an incomplete building in the Kangil Kulend area of Ilorin, where he attacked and killed him. The victim's remains were later discovered in a shallow grave, along with his mobile phone and SIM card.

The investigation is ongoing, and Mujeeb will be transferred to the appropriate security agency for further action.
